The city wanted a community minded facility and Westview called on Thern Stage for assistance.
The Venue and the Vision
With the building of the new recreation center, the city of Northglenn wanted a multi-functional facility that could be enjoyed by all the city’s residents. As part of this ambitious project, a brand new 335 seat performing arts venue, Parsons Theatre, was born. This new theatre is a versatile space. Community members can rent it for private functions and it hosts both local theatrical productions and larger touring shows. The importance of this facility cannot be overstated. This theatre ensures that the arts will remain at the heart of the community for many years to come.
The Solution by Thern Stage: A Counterweight Rigging System
Westview served as the full-scale theatrical integrator on this project. They specified Thern Stage’s products to create a counterweight rigging system for the venue. This customized system would meet the varying needs of the different users in the space. Because the facility houses a wide variety of productions, the rigging needed to be state of the art, but also easy to use. Thern provided 258 head blocks for 22 counterweight line sets with a complete guide wall, lock rail, side-loading rod arbors, durable single and double pipe battens, and 4 counterweight assist hoists and controls. Versatility was key, and Thern delivered.
In a testament to not only this versatility, but also the quality and reliability of Thern’s offering, the Arts, Culture & Community Manager for the city recently commented that of all the systems in place in the venue, the rigging stands out specifically as one that never has problems or issues. “It’s great,” he stated, “I never have to worry about anything going wrong with it – the system just works.”
